How to form these numbers

The second half of the first ten: 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Note that 10 is two digits, which is a genuinely new idea for a preschooler.

What to watch for

6 and 9 are the same shape turned around. Practise them apart before putting them on one page.

Words to say while tracing

Saying a word that starts with the shape, while the pencil is moving, links the letter to a sound instead of leaving it an abstract squiggle. Try six, seven and ten.
