How to form the letter Y
Capital Y is two short slants meeting in the middle, then a straight line down. Lowercase y is a short slant, then a longer slant that drops below the line.
What to watch for
The tail of lowercase y goes below the bottom guide, like g and j.
Words to say while tracing
Saying a word that starts with the shape, while the pencil is moving, links the letter to a sound instead of leaving it an abstract squiggle. Try yellow, yes and yo-yo.
